Games
Here is my process for feeling each sound's specific characteristics.
Interesting note: Most consonants come in pairs: one vibrates/buzzes; one is air alone.

Game One – Teeth and Tongue
Did you know there are two TH sounds?

1. TH – Like a snake hiss
This sound is the "TH" as in THIS
Put the tip of your tongue between your upper and lower teeth.
Gently blow air out with your tongue in this position. Feel the air
move out of your mouth above your tongue. Say this sound three
times so you are sure of the feeling in the beginning, middle, and
ends of words. THANK, WITHIN, BREATH

2. TH – You can hum this one
This sound is the "TH" in THEN.
Put the tip of your tongue between your upper and lower teeth.
Hum with your tongue in this position.
Feel the air and sound move out of your mouth above your tongue.
Say this sound three times so you can feel your teeth vibrate/buzz.
Now you can sing "Happy Birthday" with your teeth and tongue!
Or say THIS, LEATHER, BREATHE.
2. V – Like a Violin
Again, feel your upper front teeth touch the inside of your lower lip. Now, move a hum out between your teeth and your lip as you feel a V. Next, say the word LIVE three times, elongating the V,
feeling the vibration as you make the sound of a violin in
VOTE, NEVER, GAVE.
Oh, you can sing "Happy Birthday" on this sound as well!
Game Two – Upper Teeth and Lower Lip
1. F – Like the Wind
Feel your upper front teeth touch the inside of your lower lip. Move your breath out between your teeth and your lip saying the word IF. Elongate your breath as you make the sound of the wind. With an even breath, you can identify a very clear F sound by feeling alone. FLY, MUFFLER, ENOUGH
4. Sing La, La, La
Again, your tongue tip moves to the ridge behind your upper front teeth...BUT this time it stays touching and the side of your tongue drops down. Feel it with a La, La, La! Maybe you can sing it! I know I can’t…sigh. OR feel the buzz on the tip of your tongue in words:
LUMP, MELON, PETAL.
3. No, Nanny, None
Again, your tongue moves to the ridge behind your upper front teeth.
You see the pattern here? Check out the word NONE.
You are keeping your tongue up almost to the roof of your mouth.
So the sound comes out of your nose! Feel your nose. Feel it?
The N is vibrating out of your nose! Beginning, middle, and end again.
Words: MEET, HUMAN, THEM!
Game Three
They Are All in the Same Place?
They Are all made differently!
The three major places in your mouth where sounds are made: your lips, the ridge behind your upper front teeth, and the back roof of your mouth.

Here are the four ridge sounds
made in the same place in four different ways

1. Tiptip…Taptap…T: The Only Breath Sound
This sound was introduced on the homepage.
Let's review...Say the sound "T" three times out loud.
Remember, not the whole "Tee" with the "ee" sound
Just the “T” puff of air. Three times.
Feel your tongue tip pop off your upper gum ridge.
So here is T at the beginning, middle, and end of words.
Check out T in these words: TALL, PATTERN, THAT.

2. DUH – We all know this sound! I think.
Feel the tip of your tongue reach up, touch the ridge
on the roof of your mouth, just behind your upper front teeth?
Feel it vibrate; feel it buzz. at the beginning, middle, and end.
Check out D in these words: DIVE, MEDIUM, DON’T.
